A Grail Doll for Christmas

For Christmas 2020, Mr. BTEG gave me the Effanbee Ann Estelle Dottie Delight doll. I'd sold her during a dark time in our lives, thinking I wouldn't regret it, but I ended up doing so. This 10" Ann Estelle has been on my wish list for at least five or six years, and finally this Christmas, I was fortunate enough that there was an Ann Estelle NRFB on the market, and Mr. BTEG had the wherewithal to buy her for me! I'm putting up a group of pictures of her here, so you can all see what she looks like. I'm not counting her in my My Collection series yet, though. I'll do that when I introduce you to my entire Ann Estelle crew.

Did any of you get some nice dolly surprises for Christmas?

  1. Congratulations on getting her! She looks very cute and her face is so sweet. I really like the light blue and red combo of her outfit. For Christmas I got the Star Wars Princess Leia Barbie, which is a doll I thought I could never get because she's so expensive. Luckily, my partner saw her on sale and got her for me. For now she's going to stay in her box, displayed in my living room with some other Star Wars stuff we have there.

    1. Congratulations on getting the Princess Leia Barbie! Enjoy looking at her in your display. Yeah, the light blue and red combo is not something often seen in doll clothes, but it looks wonderful on Ann.

    1. I didn't realize that you were a big Ann Estelle fan, but yes, you definitely can't beat her. :) I'm looking forward to sharing all my Ann Estelle dolls, but two need new wigs. I'm hoping to buy them this month.

  3. Thank you, Linda. I can't describe how happy I am to have this Ann back in my collection. Tonner was always good about details; the shoes even have a pretty floral fabric as the bottom lining, although the print is a bit too big.

Your new Caleb is indeed a great Christmas present too. All the Sasha dolls are special.

  4. Congrats Barb, she is delightful and so beautifully dressed. I love Ann Estelle dolls, they have such cute faces, but there are not many around these days (I think most doll collectors are hanging on to her). Hubby has to be hugged for doing such a great job of finding just the perfect little gal for you at Christmas time.
Now I cannot wait to see the others you have at home, so I hope you don't make us wait too long. :)
    Big hugs,
    X

  5. I agree that collectors are largely hanging on to their Ann Estelle dolls; I know I am going to. I'm so happy that this Dottie Delight popped up NRFB at the right time. I guess I'm going to have to get cracking on finding wigs for the two that need them so I can get those photos taken!

    1. I forgot to tell you Barb, I have a Tiny Ann Estelle coming as a companion for my Tiny Betsy McCall, she's a "Once Upon A Time" I think from 2003.

  6. I love her! I like that she doesn't have the typical blonde hair and her outfit is absolutely adorable!
There is nothing worse than getting rid of something thinking you'll be ok with it and then you're not. I'm glad you managed to replace her!

    1. Yep, her black hair is one of the reasons that I like her, and her outfit is cute. Thank you; I'm so glad I finally have her back home.
