Here we are at the last day of Christmas, and Samantha is showing off her Christmas sled. I wanted to show the Christmas tree lights to their best effect, but also the glowing embers in the Sindy fireplace. I bought the fireplace off eBay, and there's a bit of a story here telling how I got the light inside working again.
It is my dream to someday make a doll-size Victorian Christmas tree, with ornaments that look authentic to the period. That may very well end up being 18" Samantha size, as it would certainly be the easiest scale to work with, I think. I certainly enjoyed having all of you around for these last twelve days, so thanks for stopping by, and especially commenting!
When I was a kid, I saw a double page ad for "Samantha's World." in Doll Reader magazine. That was years before I had any idea what American Girl was! A lot of what I do with my dolls now is based on my childish desire to recreate the kind of detailed world Samantha had.
ReplyDeleteSmaller scale might not be too hard for your Christmas tree. You could use painted beads and jewellery fixings.
I feel the same way! I loved all the tiny details and historical accuracy in the original American Girl sets. It's a nice goal to work towards, anyway.
DeleteI might be able to do a smaller scale for my Victorian Christmas tree. When I sit down and really start going through all the antique Christmas tree pictures that I have, I'll have a better idea of what I need.
Lovely photo! I love how she looks next to the Christmas tree lights :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Nothing shines nicer than Christmas tree lights, in my opinion.
DeleteThanks for all of the days! I learned so much and had fun reading your comments.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I love learning about new dolls too. I knew about Bonekas and Little Darlings dolls, but I have been going back and checking them out again since you have mentioned them.
DeleteHi Barb!
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed the 12 days of Christmas, the photos you have shared have been lovely and it's been great getting to know you. 😊
If you do ever make a doll size Victorian tree, I hope you will share some photos as you
progress, it would be fun to join you in your project. 💖
Big hugs,
X
Thank you! I will definitely share my progress on a Victorian Christmas tree, when I make one. Who knows, maybe Christmas 2019 will be the year.
DeleteHi Barb,
ReplyDeleteI saw in a comment you left on Tam's blog Planet Of The Dolls that you're interested in Basic Fun's mini toys. A while back I had picked up a bag lot of Basic Fun minis at my favorite thrift store for my own collection, but a number of them turned out to be duplicates of ones I already own. If you're interested, you can contact me through my blog, Fashion Doll Memoirs. My contact email should be listed on my blogger profile page.
Signed, Treesa
I have never seen this American Girl minis in Spain, but they look quite cute. Did the sled come with the doll or did you purchase it somewhere else?
ReplyDeleteNo, the sled is was just a cheap pine piece, that I sanded and painted. It is close to a good size for her.
