Where Does the Time Go?

I'm working on my storyline, but in the meantime, I haven't been very good at coming up with posts lately. I'm frustrated with the projects that I've been working on, I haven't bought any new dolls besides Ever After High, stupid real life keeps getting in the way.

Speaking of projects that I'm not finishing, I picked up some cheap watercolor pencils at Michael's yesterday.
I've had a few plans in the back of my mind for some time for trying out watercolor pencils. I decided cheap pencils were a fine way to start, and if I'm not happy with the results, I can always try moving up to a better quality pencil. Preferably when I have a 40% off coupon at Michael's.

One of the things I want to do is improve Meg's face. She could use darker eyebrows, more color in her lips, maybe even some eyeliner like her design picture shows.
I have had a few ideas for posts, but I'm not sure if there is a lot of interest in what I wanted to post about. One of the posts I wanted to make was about the new LORI pony for the 6" dolls, and compare it to Lottie's pony. I also wanted to do a post about one of my older Cissy dolls; I thought perhaps people might be interested in seeing a doll you don't see much of anymore. I'm going to put a poll up and find out if there is any interest, and go from there. In the meantime, I'll be hard at work on my doll projects (hopefully!)

  1. Post on anything you want. You never know what attracts people.Sometimes you get surprised by how many people react to something you'd think no one would care about but you.Besides,it's your blog and you can do anything you want to!

  2. I wouldn't worry too much about what people are "interested" in reading. If you do that you'll end up never posting anything. Write about whatever you're interested in, otherwise it will get to be a chore.

  3. I totally get what you mean, Tam and Rachael, and thank you for the encouragement! Mostly I don't worry about how many people will read a post, but for some reason when I wrote this I felt overwhelmed by taking a bunch of pictures, only to have no one really interested in looking at them. I think getting a new post under my belt re-fueled my interest in putting up new things, though.

  4. I say post about it all, whatever is on your mind. Your fellow doll collectors will be interested because they all share similar passions. I too occasionally get " bloggers block". : }

  7. I heard a rumor that Disney bought the Makies. I wonder if that means we'll see them come back sometime?

I'd love to see some older dolls like Cissy. It's so interesting to see how times, tastes, and production has changed!

    1. I heard that rumor myself, or that Makies was working with Disney. I hope Disney doesn't own Makies, because it already seems like so many dolls coming out this year are Disney Princess and superheroes. I do hope Makies come back at some point though; I'm sure 3D technology keeps improving.

I'm glad people want to see Cissy. I love having her in my collection.

    2. Makies made an announcement last month on their Facebook page about their situation. I suspected we would have to wait until January or February to hear any news.

Hope their new owner will begin manufacturing the dolls soon.

    3. I'm not on Facebook. I hope there is a general release announcement sometime soon. Like, maybe on the webpage.

    4. I'm not on Facebook either. The post was on their public Facebook page. www.facebook.com/OfficialMakies

    5. Facebook always asks me if I want to sign up when I look at a Facebook page, which I find annoying, and I'm never sure I'm seeing everything. When I go to the page you listed, I don't see anything about something new coming up.

    6. Yes, I get that annoying sign up box, too. I just click the "not now" and the box moves to the bottom of the screen (and stays there) and then I can scroll down and see posts.

The first picture on their facebook page should say "Makies are saying goodbye" at the bottom of the pic and one of the doll's talk bubbles saying "We'll miss you". The post is dated February 18. When you find it, be sure to click the 'see more' to read the entire post.

    7. I did read that, but the rumors of them being bought out by Disney specifically (although the buyer is not named here) have being floating around for ages, so I'm taking this announcement with a HUGE grain of salt. I'm still doubtful Makies will ever be made again. And honestly? I was poking around today on a site that offers 3D printing designs. Enterprising designers are already working on all kinds of doll bodies and heads. If Makies don't get out there soon, somebody else will.

  8. Hello Barb! I think you should post anything you think it's interesting because blogging is supposed to be fun, and you are the one that should be having fun with it. If someone doesn't like it... well, they can just not read it. I do agree with everyone else saying that you should write those posts.

    1. When I posted this, I'd temporarily lost my sense of fun about blogging, and I didn't want to put in the effort to post something nobody would read. If I want to do that, I can always post to my main blog. :D But I've felt so much more interested in blogging again since the post above, so much so that I've already shot most of the pictures I need for my Cissy post.

  9. I totally know where you are coming from Barb and when I did my poll it was really helpful. I kept it annonymous and I felt like people were very honest and it was interesting to see how many different things my readers liked. It didn't really change anything for me, but it gave me confidence to pretty much post anything because there is most likely a reader out there that would enjoy it. :)
Good luck with doing the Makie face up!

    1. Yep, I agree! I want to know at least one person out there will be interested in reading it, and with an older doll like Cissy, I wasn't sure if people would be interested.

I read that I should seal Meg's face with Mr. Super Clear at least once before I work on her face, and of course the weather has gotten super cold here, way too cold to spray anything outside. I have plenty to do in the meantime, at least.

    2. Yeah, it has been freezing here as well! I can't wait for the weather to warm up, I'd be happy with it being in the 50s at the very least!

  10. Good luck with your doll projects! Post about anything you like, if you start worrying about what other people think, this isn't going to work. It's not like you're making any money out of this and filling a quota.

    1. Thank you! You're right; I do need to worry less about what others think.
