Mini Mooshka Fairytale Dolls

Sunday evening Mr. BTEG and I had to take a run to Target, despite the bad weather. On the way there, we got the expected robocall from my daughter's school, saying that they were closed on Monday. Woo hoo! Since I was going to have a cozy snow day at home, I felt like it would be nice to have a couple of new dollies to play with.

I've been looking at the Mini Mooshka dolls for a while. I'm not into the bigger cloth dolls, but the minis look like homemade wooden toys. Between their appearance and the Russian-sounding names, they remind me of matryoshka dolls. They're made by MGA Entertainment, which also makes Lalaloopsy, among other dolls, and seems to own Little Tykes as well.

Meet Palia and Casia.

Princess Palia loves being in parades and practicing her royal wave. Me too! She comes with a little pet cat, and her birthday is on August 3rd. Ballerina Casia loves to play hide and seek and hide under the toad stools. Nothing about dancing? Her birthday is July 14th, and she comes with a pet rabbit.

The Mooshka Girls Are Throwing a Party, and All Their Fairytale Friends Are Invited!
The dolls are 3.5 inches (8.89cm) tall. There is no way they will stand on their own, but I don't mind. I think it goes with the homemade appearance.

Palia has two hard little hair buns; Casia has one. It is the buns that really keeps the heads from turning. They bump up against the knobby shoulders. Princess Palia's orange lips are a bit odd looking, especially with her all-pink outfit.

Their arms and legs are moveable, and each limb moves individually. However, their stiff net skirts make it hard for them to sit. Casia's skirt can be spread out behind her. Palia just has to be balanced carefully.

I love that they have little pets. They're a fun extra touch. You can especially see with the rabbit the speckled look that the pets and the girls' limbs have.

The dolls' "leotard" design covers their entire torso.

Just to show proportion, I photographed one of these dolls with a mini AG and older Mattel Stacie doll. Mini Elizabeth is 6.5 inches (16.5cm) and Stacie is about 7.5 inches (19.05cm.)

I like them best as dolls for my dolls, especially since they can't sit well on their own and they look so much like a girl's toy. They would look cute casually tossed on a doll bed. For active play, MGA has come out with a castle for the minis.

They're also producing cloth and mini animals, which I don't find as attractive, especially the cloth ones. Your mileage may vary. The mini animals come with a treat in lieu of a pet.

Do you like the Mooshka dolls, or has any other mini caught your eye?

  1. The little pets are adorable - had hadn't realized these had accessories like that.

It's funny, but Casia looks very similar to an actual wooden doll that my sister had when we were kids - seeing these Mooshkas makes me want to find that doll and have one of these as her mini-me!

    1. It's nice to know how well MGA captured the wooden doll look. Thanks for the information! I'd love to see pictures of your sister's doll.

  2. I like the pets. The dolls could go for the Mattel kiddies.
