Teen Trends Gabby

With encouragement from blog commenters, I decided to add another Teen Trends doll to the group. I was thinking it would be nice to add Kianna, but I found a Gabby NRFB and two NRFP outfits for sale, cheaper than the asking price for the only NRFB Kianna on ebay, so Gabby and the clothes came home instead. I'd still like to get Kianna, NRFB partially because of the low hair quality, partially to get her outfit complete, and partially because I have an OCD cleanliness thing.

Gabby comes tied down with coated wires and the little plastic tags. Her jacket, her necklace and her purse were also all attached to her shirt and pants with tiny little plastic tags. Annoying! There is a cover of plastic and cardboard that gets removed from her box, and then there are cardboard inserts that Gabby, her stand, and her accessories come attached to. Those get lifted out, and you end up with a cardboard wardrobe that holds the doll and her accessories, and has a place to hang her clothes. Extra outfits come with a hanger.

Gabby is the girly girl of her friends. She comes wearing a pink sleeveless top, a jacket, white denim pants, black driving mocs, earrings and a necklace. She also has a purse and hair acessories.

I don't remember "hair spirals" being a thing.
The shirt is a thin knit material. It's great for avoiding seam unraveling, but it snags easily. And of course, the shirt closes in the back with Velcro, so you need to be careful getting the shirt on and off. Also, there are a couple of small holes, and the shirt got rumpled up, from being tagged to the jacket. The jacket itself feels roughly woven on the outside, but has a kind of interfacing inside to keep it smooth.

You can also see how the arms (and legs) are strung.

The denim pants are nice, but the chain belt and rivets caused some real problems. Specifically, the metal is causing a blue-green stain to appear on various areas of the pants. I wonder if it's related to Barbie dolls getting "green ear" from the earrings? Gabby did get some of the stain on her leg, but it came off with a Magic Eraser.

The mocs are cute, and I like the shape of Teen Trend dolls' feet, but these shoes were held on with rubber bands, leaving indentations above the ankles.

Lastly, her purse is nicely done, for the price point and for being aimed at kids. It does open, but not much would really fit in there. It's cute, though.

There is one real issue, which is that Gabby has dark stains on the left side of her head, just above her neck. I don't really recall seeing much of anything there when I started photographing her, so I was surprised to see them when I was finishing up. Maybe the jacket rubbed off? I may have to use benzoyl peroxide to get the stains off the soft vinyl of her head. Hopefully I can get rid of most, if not all of the marks.

  1. Great buy! I miss a few accessories of my Gabby, it's nice to see what she comes with originally, like the stand and the purse, I don't have those :-).

  2. A new Teen Trends doll! Awesome! And new with all her clothes and accessories! Shame about the belt staining the jeans, but even so this was a great find.

I'm just ridiculously fond of this line, I think.

  3. Cute doll and outfit.

If she wore a half sock (mid foot to toe), would that keep her mocs on? Wondering ;-)

    1. It might work, but that would mean I'd have to come up with a pattern, and sew it. :)
