Gifts from Mr. BTEG

Mr. BTEG and I both have several hobbies. Lately Mr. BTEG has been going to hardware stores and also buying electronic parts from AliExpress for project supplies. A lot of times when he does, he buys me something small if he finds it. One of the latest gifts was these two buckets from the Lowe's hardware store. The human size buckets are used several different ways when doing construction or woodworking, and just about every hardware store has their own, made in their store colors and with their logo. Somewhere I have blue and white Lowe's buckets, but they recently came out with these sparkly buckets with lids.

They're not really 1/6 scale, and they're not meant to be. They're meant for people to hold things, and there are a lot of little things that people are putting in these buckets. There seems to be a craze right now for mini storage, as evidenced by these small storage bins.

Different stores have been bringing these out in all kinds of colors. I think both of these are from Lowe's, but stores from Dollar Tree to Target all have versions of these. You can find them in clear with pink and pastel multicolor lids, as well as solid pink. For all I know, there are more. I put four Mini Brands purses/bags in the clear box, to give an idea of what one of these will hold. If you do any crafting, these would also be useful for small items like beads, charms, anything small.

Mr. BTEG has also been buying me little doll related items from AliExpress, which I'll probably share in another post. He got these two chairs with his last purchase, which are meant for 1/6. I think they're meant to go with 1/6 scale action figures, which you can find on AliExpress, along with some props and backdrops. Oddly enough, this type of chair from AliExpress always comes with a mini ashtray. I don't get that.

It has admittedly been a long time since I posted. My photography table is way too cluttered; this was the main problem. I need to make a plain backdrop and leave it in a clear space, so I can take pictures no matter what. For these pictures, I decided to use one of my cute autumn themed scrapbook papers. I have sooo much scrapbook paper. I generally only buy paper books when they're on sale, but I've bought a bunch over the years. Now that I have a larger hobby space, I'm finally getting all of them sorted and in storage cases. Happily, I'm getting everything stored away where I want it. It's just taking a while. For at least the next year or so, I'm also going to be busy involved with a few other things.

I've got a bridal shower and a wedding that I'll be helping with! I'm going to really enjoy working with my daughter to plan a lovely wedding. I've already got a theme for the bridal shower and I'm buying things for it. :) No dates yet though!

Back to dolls, does anyone else love patterned paper as much as I do? I need to pick out something nice for my magazine cover for Xanadu's challenge.

  1. Look at you 2 cuties!!!
I think the mini storage craze has even reach Chile, as I've found quite a few of the yellow and black boxes over at our Walmart. I didn't get them because I'm more into pastel colors.
The glittery buckets looks like fun though!
I love Aliexpress for doll clothes and props, those chairs look really nice, Not a fan of the ashtray though.

    1. Oh no, that last picture is of my daughter and her fiancé. They just got engaged.

I hope that the glittery buckets mean that stores will keep coming out with different versions of mini items. AliExpress is a great place to get things for dolls. I don't really care for the ashtray either, but all of the chairs seem to come with one.

  2. We have those little storage boxes here too Barb, but I haven't seen any buckets yet. The chairs are a great prop, there are lots of them around in that size if you keep your eyes open, and all your dolls look great with them. As for the ashtray, perhaps they still smoke a lot in China. LOL!

That's a beautiful photo of your daughter and her fiancé, and I bet you are thrilled to be planning her bridal shower & helping her with all her wedding plans. I had so much fun helping when my own daughter got married, choosing "the" dress was my favourite thing we did together.

I have a stack of pretty paper too Barb, some I have been using for wallpaper in the doll house, but I know just like all the rest of the stuff I have stashed, it will probably never all get used. I'm hopeless! Hey, in regards to the challenge, I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
    Big hugs,
    X

    1. The buckets seem to still be exclusive to hardware stores, although they've come out with variations. There really are all kinds of mini chairs out there, from mini plant stands to phone holders. I think they do still smoke a lot in China.

Thank you, I love that picture too. My daughter wants a Victorian tea party as her bridal shower, which is right up my alley.

I probably won't use up all of my paper either. I want to start journaling in January, so I'm hoping to use some that way as well, but I do have a large stash of crafty stuff! I need to get my brain planning a magazine cover now.

  3. These are great finds. Buckets and containers like these definitely come in handy. I collect various boxes and organizers as well to store my miniature doll items and craft supplies—it’s just so convenient. Sometimes I even end up with smaller boxes stored inside a bigger box.

Such a lovely photo, with such genuine smiles on their faces. It’s wonderful that you're helping your daughter plan the wedding and spending time together. These are such sweet and happy preparations.

    1. It's so nice to have your things organized so you can find them when you need them. It makes everything much easier and more fun.

Thank you! I'm very happy that my daughter is happy, and that we can work together.
